In the world of batteries, the lead acid batteries still the most common ones. However, one of the basic problems with lead-acid batteries is that sometimes there is a shorter lifetime (cycle number) then the original life expectancy specified by the designer. One of the main reasons for this, is the lack of proper operation.  This inadequate operation can be made up of several details, the most typical ones being:

  • Not ideal ambient conditions for the operation (charging / discharging not in an appropriate temperature and humidity range)
  • Load anomalies (excessive or long load, deep discharge, etc.)
  • Incorrect charging characteristics
  • Improper practice of charging procedures
  • Failure to maintain and lack of monitoring functions
  • Intentional damage (in case of truck batteries)

In order to avoid these operating errors, we have developed a data monitoring and micromanagement control system (BMMR) which providing monitoring functions of lead acid battery, supports the ideal battery operation thus increasing their lifetime.  The special hardware designed and created at the endpoints tests the battery status based on the on the received command and minimum local control rule, realizes battery usage based on real-time data, collects all data that will be useful for the control centre working out the BMMR and the regeneration strategy.
