Project subpage

Usage of inoculum injection had to be decided in case of all contaminated soil during the bioremediation of the area, furthermore the toxicity effect on the inoculum of the xenobioticums had to be considered. In addition the whole process of the bioremediation had to be monitored. Change of microbe community had to be followed to implement the process in the designed way.

The cooperation of Enviroinvest Co. (Pécs) and Biological Research Center, Hungarian Academy of Science (Szeged) aimed the previously mentioned purposes using molecular biological tools. The contaminated soil was originated from a test area located on a non-used army base. One part of the project was the metagenom analysis suitable for the detection of the non-culturable microbial communities. (Only 1% of microbes can be cultured under laboratory conditions.) After the sample preparation qPCR technique were used for the detection of the relative gene presence encoding TPH disassembling enzymes. Furthermore the MFCDiagn machine operating with the microbial battery method was used for the detection of the toxicity effect of soil and underground water on the potential bacterial inoculum. Based on our result the developed service pack was suitable for strategically planning, monitoring and implementing of the bioremediation process.

An Illumina MiSeq new generation sequencing (NGS) machine were purchased, which is suitable for the metagenom analysis.
