Project subpage

The overall objective of the project was to raise the standard of care for the elderly in the small-village areas of the rural territories in Hungary.

Our first direct objective was the human capacity building in the public sector and in elderly care. We also wanted to help bring new attitudes and to involve older people living in small settlements in the local community. Nine groups of activities contributed to attain the first direct objective. Among others there were 19 different types of training sessions and the preparation of five new curriculum. We implemented three conferences as well as a creative workshop. We created three field researches and  an intensive English language course. The project included 3 study trips to Norway with 15 participants each and an  exchange visits of two nurses from both Hungary and Norway. Special attention was given to the relationship between the young and the elderly. As a result of the project a high level of professional cooperation started among elderly care institutions in South Transdanubia. Our second direct objecive was to establish quality services in the local elderly care through well trained personell and the improved service facilities of the Autumn Light Elderly Home. Among others  6 three bedded rooms were rearranged into double bedded ones, a particular room was furnished for therapeutic purposes and a gym was designed for elderly people. The kitchen and the restaurant of the Elderly Home were expanded and equipped with or preparing special menues for elderly.  Due to the project the service level of the Eldery Home is much higher, new methods and international experiences are implemented in the daily work.
